How to steal an Election

If I hadn’t seen it I don’t know I would have believed it, but now we know why governments have been pushing Electronic voting machines. Cuz they are only as secure as they need to be, and anyone with a bit of computer knowledge can hack these things and hijack an election or referendum/plebiscite. As the following videos show, all it takes is a Trojan on the cd key used and the machine will replace any votes in a particular race to the candidate of the hackers choice. Only extreme vigilience when voting can hope to prevent this by checking the printed copy of the vote. Although as the vid shows this can be hacked as well so that once you remove the voter id card and walk away the machine voids your vote and reprints it with the hacked vote. Only watching the machine untill the vote immedeately following has been properly cast can you be sure that your vote wasn’t changed by the machine.
Some states don’t even require a paper record, meaning there is absolutely no way to audit the system. It’s no wonder governments are rushing these things out, it is likely only a matter of time before people realize that democracy itself has been hacked, but if my job required me to win an election every 2-4 years I’d find a way to hack the system too…. or find a new line of work.
For more info on the hijacking of the US election check out http://www.blackboxvoting.org/ for some valuable tool kits to help you ask the right questions and put some much needed pressure on local officials to secure the voting process on all levels.
